Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - Pitching was the story in Thursday's series opener between the Greenville Drive and the Augusta GreenJackets at Fluor Field, and the GreenJackets came away with a 2-1 victory.

Denyi Reyes (3-3) turned in yet another strong start for the Drive (10-29), as the right-hander scattered eight hits and two runs over six innings while striking out five.

Reyes made just one mistake on Thursday, as T.J. Bennett deposited a two-run homer over the wall to give the GreenJackets (24-14) the lead.

The Drive scratched their lone run of the day across in the first. Lorenzo Cedrola led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Zach Sterry's RBI groundout.

Aaron Phillips (2-1) got the win for Augusta by holding the Drive to that run over five innings. Frank Rubio notched his eighth save with a perfect ninth.

The Drive received three scoreless innings of relief from Juan Florentino and Devon Fisher to close out the game.

Samuel Miranda was the lone Greenville starter with a two-hit game.

Game two of the series begins at 7:05 PM on Friday at Fluor Field. Left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus (1-0, 2.65) starts on the mound for the Drive, and the GreenJackets will counter with right-hander Jason Bahr (3-2, 1.77).
