Fightins Sweep Senators out of Town

Reading Fightin Phils earned their first four-game sweep as they defeated Harrisburg 3-0.

The Fightin Phils (51-67) pitching staff no-hit the Harrisburg Senators (47-70) over the final six innings as they won 3-0. The Fightins earned their first four-game sweep since 5/20/13-5/23/13 against the Altoona Curve. The Fightin Phils retired the final 17 batters of the game.

Chris Bootcheck came firing out of the gate as he struck out five batters in his short three-inning start. Aaron Altherr hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th inning off Paolo Espino to give the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead. Jake Fox hit a solo home run off reliever Derek Self in the bottom of the 6th inning to give Reading a 2-0 lead. Kelly Dugan hit a RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning with one out to score Carlos Alonso and give the Fightin Phils a 3-0 lead.

Chris Bootcheck pitched three innings and struck out five batters as he gave up just two hits with one walk. Kyle Simon (4-2) earned the win as he pitched four shutout innings as he allowed one walk with five strikeouts. Colton Murray earned his fourth save as he struck out four batters in two innings of work.

The Fightin Phils continue their seven-game home stand tomorrow night as they welcome in the Altoona Curve for the first and only time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
