Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves came out on the wrong end of a pitchers duel on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park as they dropped the middle game of a three-game series to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-1.
The Cats struck in the first with two outs against Erie starter Jeff Ferrell. With a runner on first, Andy Burns doubled home Jon Berti for a 1-0 lead. Cole Aldridge followed with a double, plating Burns for a 2-0 advantage.
New Hampshire added a run in the top of the fourth. Burns led off with a double and moved to third on an Aldridge base hit. Burns scored on a Mike McDade groundout making it 3-0.
Fisher Cats starter Scott Copeland was stellar as he allowed just one run against the 'Wolves in eight innings of work. Erie cut into the Cats lead in the fifth. Aaron Westlake and Dixon Machado each singled. Jamie Johnson laid down a sacrifice bunt pushing the runners into scoring position. Westlake scored on a Jason Krizan groundout making it 3-1. Erie would get no closer.
Ferrel (7-8) was the tough luck loser as he put together his third straight quality start. He allowed three runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
