New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
ERIE, Pa. - Michael Crouse delivered a two-run double in the fourth inning, but it was Ramon Cabrera's 13th-inning single that broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Erie SeaWolves to a 3-2 win on Thursday night. Crouse's hit had given the Fisher Cats an early lead, but Erie's late rally helped the SeaWolves (57-61) avoid a sweep to the Fisher Cats (57-61) in their final meeting of the season.
For the first time in the series, Erie scored first. With one out in the second, Aaron Westlake lofted a sac fly to right to score Steven Moya for a 1-0 Erie lead.
The Fisher Cats moved ahead in the fourth on Crouse's double. Andy Burns and Cory Aldridge began the inning with singles before Crouse roped a double to left to plate both runners for a 2-1 lead.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx kept the lead intact through six innings of work. He allowed just three hits and the lone run, which was unearned. He struck out five and walked one in the start.
Bibens-Dirkx was in line for the win until the seventh when Westlake launched a home run off reliever Mickey Storey to tie the game at 2-2. The long ball took Erie starter Buck Farmer off the hook after he pitched six innings of two-run ball in his second Double-A outing.
It stayed tied until the bottom of the 13th when Erie pulled out the win. Dixon Machado began the inning with a single to center off Dustin Antolin. Ramon Cabrera followed with a base hit over the head of Crouse, who nearly made a fantastic catch, to give Erie the walk-off win.
Will Startup (4-1) earned the win with a scoreless 13th inning. Antolin (3-4) took the loss allowing the one run on two hits and three strikeouts.
The Fisher Cats now head further west to visit Akron for the start of a three-game series on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Righty Taylor Cole makes his second Double-A start against Akron righty Cody Anderson. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with Tom Gauthier on WGIR 610 AM and www.nhfishercats.com.
The Fisher Cats return home to begin a six-game stand on Tuesday night against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The opener of the series features a Fungo Bobblehead giveaway courtesy of Northeast Delta Dental. Tickets are available by visiting www.nhfishercats.com, stopping by the Fisher Cats ticket office, or by calling (603) 641-2005.
