Fighting Saints Double up Storm, 4-2
January 23, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, Ne. - Nathan Sucese scored the last two goals in the final 96 seconds, ripping the Dubuque Fighting Saints past the Tri-City Storm, 4-2, Saturday at the Viaero Center.
On a short-handed breakaway, Sucese shot the puck left post past Storm goalie Dayton Rasmussen, who made 33 saves on 36 shots. Just 1:09 later, Sucese scored his second of the game into the empty net.
The Storm's Jake Wahlin and Tory Dello scored for Tri-City, while Wade Allison had a multi-assist game.
Wahlin started the scoring for Tri-City with his ninth of the season, aiming the puck to the left of Hunter Miska. Alex Limoges ticked the puck to Wahlin at the right slot and Allison took the secondary assist.
The St. Cloud State commit Wahlin has three goals and four assists in his last six games, boosting to 27 points, second on the team behind linemate Carson Meyer.
The Storm held a 1-0 edge at the end of the first.
Dubuque struck for two goals in the first 3:19 of the middle period. Zach Solow's second of the year tied it at one 1:43 into the second. Brett Boeing's first of the year, with assists to Keegan Ford and Dallas Gerads, gave the Saints a 2-1 lead.
The two goals by Dubuque set the stage for Tory Dello's tying tally at 9:11 of the second. Wade Allison nipped a pass to Dello at center point and the Storm's Captain slung it left post under Miska's blocker for his third of the season. Dan Labosky earned the secondary helper.
Dello has three goals this season, the most he's had in his three-season USHL career. Allison, a returning player, has 14 goals and three assists in his last 17 games.
Dubuque finished 0-for-2 on the man up, failing to convert on six chances this weekend. The Storm had a power play tally on two chances.
Next Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m., the Storm starts a six-game road trip against the Fargo Force. Tri-City is next at home on Feb. 19 against Sioux Falls for Thunderstruck Night, with a Free Kids Friday and a special thunderstick giveaway. Listen to the Storm's road games on the Breeze 94.5 FM with David Fine on the Viaero Wireless Pregame Show.
