Fargo Force News Release
Tonight at Scheels Arena for a second night in a row, a sellout crowd swarmed the stands for the third annual Hometown Heroes Night, where the Fargo Force honored the men and women who serve our country! Tonight's game was sure to be heated as last night the Force upset the Black Hawks with an impressive 6-0 win.
The Black Hawks put up a much bigger fight in tonight's game not giving the Force any breaks. However, Fargo continued to put pressure on Waterloo and finally were able to capitalize. At 17:54 in the first Grant Meyer snagged a power-play goal in the corner of Cale Morris's net, assisted by Denis Smirnov and Hank Crone. To Fargo's dismay Waterloo answered back at 19:19. Nick Swaney scored the Black Hawks first goal of the series. Fargo and Waterloo entered the second locked up 1-1.
The second period was filled with a ton of action but neither team was able to put points on the board. Only thirty-two seconds into the second period the Force took back the lead. Blake Lizotte notched his first goal of the game assisted by Grant Meyer and Hank Crone. The Black Hawks fought back with aggressive desperate play to tie up the game once again but at 14:43 Fargo's Jake McLaughlin scored the Force's third power-play goal of the game, putting Fargo up 3-1 and ended up being the final. Every goal scored in tonight's game was scored on a power-play. This series with Waterloo was the Force's first home sweep this season and Fargo's third consecutive win.
Fargo Force are back at Scheels Arena next weekend, January 29th and 30th to play Tri-City. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office Monday through Friday from 11am to 6pm, tickets300.com, or the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
