Fightin Phils Quiet Sea Dogs' Bats in 2-0 Loss

Reading, Pennsylvania - The Portland Sea Dogs dropped their seventh-straight game Tuesday night with a 2-0 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils. The Sea Dogs are now 24-34 while the Fightin Phils improve to 24-33.

Jack Conley put Reading on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning, and the Fightin Phils led, 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Logan O'Hoppe blasted a lead-off home run to left field extending Reading's lead, 2-0.

Portland left eight runners on base, including a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning. Tyler Dearden and Nick Sogard each reached on base hits while Christian Koss drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. Elih Marrero then struck out swinging to end the inning.

In the third inning, David Hamilton stretched a single into a double then Ceddanne Rafaeala drew a walk, putting runners at first and second base. The Fightin Phils then induced a groundout by Pedro Castellanos to end the inning.

Mike Adams (4-0, 3.23 ERA) was awarded the win for Reading, tossing 1.0 perfect inning in relief with a strikeout. Chris Murphy (2-5, 2.60 ERA) was tagged with the loss, tossing 6.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three. He gave up both home runs.

Jake Thompson pitched 1.2 shutout innings for Portland allowing one hit while walking two and striking out one. Rio Gomez recorded one out, a strikeout, for the Sea Dogs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Sea Dogs and Fightin Phils meet again tomorrow, June, 15 at 7:00pm at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading. LHP Jay Groome (2-3, 4.20 ERA) will take the mound for Portland while Reading will send RHP James McArthur (2-5, 5.10 ERA).
