Connell Leads Sens to 2-1 Win

Justin Connell hit a two-run home run and threw out the tying run at the plate in the eighth inning preserving the Senators 2-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels Tuesday night at FNB Field. Connell hit his two-run home run in the fifth inning after Andrew Young had reached base on an infield single. He threw out Brandon Martorano at the plate with two outs in the eighth to preserve the lead. Franklyn Kilome earned the win going six strong innings.

Three Sens pitchers combined to limit the Squirrels to just a run on five hits. Franklyn Kilome allowed a two out solo home run in the fifth inning for the only run Richmond scored. He struck out seven and walked two and earned his first win with Harrisburg. Curtis Taylor earned a hold going two scoreless innings. Zach Brzykcy pitched a perfect ninth inning for his second save with the Sens.

Along with his home run, Connell also doubled in the game. Jake Alu doubled with one out in the sixth but he was left stranded at second base. Harrisburg had just six hits in the game.

The win was the Senators sixth straight, matching their season high. They went oh-for-three with runners in scoring position. Harrisburg didn't commit an error, the 33rd time this season they've been errorless. Richmond entered the game with a one-game lead in the Southwest Division with twelve games to play.
