FC Dallas Adds Forward Depth; Signs Brazilian Wesley "Pipico" Silva

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Dec. 18 2012) - FC Dallas has acquired Vasco da Gama forward Wesley "Pipico" Silva, pending receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Per team and MLS policy, the terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

"Pipico is a dynamic player who gives us some depth at the forward position and allows us to transition into playing in a 4-4-2 system," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He is an intelligent attacking player with solid finishing ability."

Beginning in 2006, Pipico spent five seasons with lower division Brazilian clubs Floresta, Cabofriense and Bangu before joining Macaé in the Brazilian first division for the 2011 season. Now 27, Pipico appeared in 36 matches for Macaé last season before joining famed Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in 2012. Pipico came off the bench for Vasco da Gama seven times in 2012.

Between 2010 and 2012, Pipico scored 19 goals and added 26 assists in 45 matches in the Brazilian Carioca Serie A and Serie C Championships.
