Real Salt Lake to Open 2013 MLS Season on March 3 at San Jose

December 18, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012) - Real Salt Lake learned the dates and opponents for its first three matches of 2013 on Tuesday, when MLS announced the full list of home openers for every team in the league.

RSL will open its season on March 3 at the defending Supporters' Shield winners San Jose Earthquakes. It will be the third time in four years that the Claret-and-Cobalt begins its campaign at San Jose after RSL beat the Quakes at Buck Shaw Stadium in its season openers in 2010 and 2011.

Real Salt Lake will follow up a March 9 trip to D.C. United with its home opener on March 16 against Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado Rapids at Rio Tinto Stadium. It will be just the second time in team history that RSL opens its home slate against Colorado. The first time came on April 16, 2005, when the Claret-and-Cobalt defeated Colorado 1-0 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in the club's inaugural home game.

MLS will announce the complete 2013 regular season schedule in the coming weeks. Times and broadcast information for all of RSL's games will be released with the full schedule.

Currently, the only way for fans to guarantee their seats at Rio Tinto Stadium for the March16 home opener or any of RSL's other home matches is to "Join the Pride" by becoming a RSL Season Ticket Holder. Fans can purchase Season Tickets by visiting the "Tickets" section of www.RealSaltLake.com or by calling 801-727-2700.
