
Vancouver Whitecaps FC to Host Toronto FC for 2013 MLS Regular Season Opener

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that they will kick off their third season in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at home versus Canadian rivals Toronto FC at BC Place. Kickoff time and broadcast information will be announced in the coming weeks.
"We are excited to be kicking off 2013 at BC Place against one of our fiercest rivals and cannot wait to get out onto the pitch in front of our fans," said Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie. "Our team is always fired up to play Toronto FC, so everyone can expect a lively crowd, an intense match, and an exciting start to our third season in Major League Soccer."
"In just 10 weeks the "ËCaps will host Toronto FC as part of opening day in MLS," said Rachel Lewis, Whitecaps FC chief operating officer. The 2013 season opener will mark the first time that Whitecaps FC host Toronto FC at BC Place for an MLS match. Overall, this will be the 14th all-time meeting between the two clubs, with Whitecaps FC having amassed a 3W-5L-5D record versus Toronto FC. At home, the "ËCaps have maintained an unbeaten record of 2W-0L-4D against TFC, including the club's inaugural MLS match in 2011 which ended in a 4-2 victory over the Reds at Empire Field.
