January 13, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati today announced that they have transferred midfielder Leonardo Bertone to FC Thun of the Swiss Super League.
Bertone made 25 appearances, including 22 starts, scoring one goal and adding two assists in his lone season with the Orange and Blue. The midfielder notably scored FC Cincinnati's first-ever MLS goal, which was eventually voted as FC Cincinnati's Goal of the Year for 2019.
"We want to thank Leonardo for all he did for this club on the pitch and in the community as an FC Cincinnati player," General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. "We felt this move was beneficial for both sides. We wish Leonardo all the best in the next chapter of his career."
Bertone joined FCC from BSC Young Boys on Dec. 18, 2018 ahead of the club's inaugural MLS season. The Swiss midfielder made his MLS debut against Seattle Sounders FC on March 2, 2019 in FC Cincinnati's inaugural MLS match. Prior to joining the Orange and Blue, Bertone spent eight seasons with BSC Young Boys, where he made 179 career appearances across all competitions, scored 18 goals and contributed 11 assists.
FC Cincinnati will return to the field for their second MLS season on Sunday, March 1, when the team opens the season on the road against the New York Red Bulls. After a road game at Atlanta United FC on Saturday, March 7, FCC will open its 2020 home slate on Saturday, March 14, when the team hosts D.C. United at Nippert Stadium in a 5:30 p.m. game.
Season Ticket Memberships are still available for purchase and start at $230 per ticket. A 2020 Season Ticket Membership also secures fans' place on the club's priority list, which will be utilized when sales begin in the new West End Stadium for the 2021 season. Information about all 2020 ticket options - season tickets, multiple-game options, group tickets and individual-game tickets - is available at //fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-5425 (KICK).
