Inter Miami CF Announces Diego Alonso's Full Technical Staff
January 13, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today it has hired the full technical staff that will support head coach Diego Alonso in the Club's historic 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) inaugural season. The Club's technical staff will combine international championship-winning personnel with U.S. experienced coaches.
Alonso's two-time Concacaf Champions League winning staff joins Inter Miami aiming to replicate their previous national and international success at C.F. Pachuca and C.F. Monterrey. Talented coaches with valuable experience across all levels in the U.S. soccer pyramid - MLS, United Soccer League (USL) and U.S. Soccer Development Academy - will supplement the Club's technical staff.
Inter Miami CF's full technical staff includes:
Claudio Arzeno as Assistant Coach
Mauricio Marchetti as Assistant Coach and Fitness Coach
Gustavo Metral as Sports Scientist
Anthony Pulis as Assistant Coach
Albert Rudé as Assistant Coach
Sebastián Saja as Goalkeeper Coach
Brett Uttley as Assistant Coach and Video Analyst
"We're thrilled to combine a championship-winning and experienced coaching staff that aligns with the Club's ambitions and culture to support Diego's team," said Inter Miami CF Sporting Director Paul McDonough. "We're confident their previous national and international success will transition to Inter Miami and lead the Club to become one of the best in the Americas. We're looking forward to the great things we'll achieve together."
Arzeno will serve as Assistant Coach, as he was at C.F. Pachuca and C.F. Monterrey. The former player began his career playing for first division side Club Atlético Independiente in his native Argentina, where he won one Recopa Sudamericana and two Supercopas Sudamericanas, before making a move to Spain where he would make over 100 appearances.
The Uruguayan Assistant Coach and Fitness Coach Marchetti will hold the same position that he excelled at in Pachuca and Monterrey's championship runs.
Sport Scientist Metral will also take the position he held in Alonso's staff in Pachuca and Monterrey.
Assistant Coach Pulis brings experience in the U.S. Soccer landscape to the coaching staff. He was most recently the head coach of Saint Louis FC in the USL Championship for over two years. Pulis, the son of long-time English Premier League manager Anthony "Tony" Pulis, also brings extensive playing experience, spending several years in England before moving to Orlando City to close his career.
Rudé also served as an Assistant Coach in Alonso's staff at Pachuca from 2015 to 2018 and later joined him at Monterrey in 2019. The Spaniard was also the Department of Sports Intelligence and Performance Analysis Coordinator at Rayados.
Goalkeeper Coach Saja was promoted from the Inter Miami CF Academy where he was the Goalkeeper Coordinator and Coach. Saja also had a long playing career as a goalkeeper. The Argentine played for several different teams before retiring in 2017, spending the most time with Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro and Racing Club in Argentina's first division. He also received four senior caps for the Argentine national team.
Assistant Coach and Video Analyst Uttley was most recently the first assistant coach for Rio Grande Valley FC, the second team of the Houston Dynamo playing in the USL Championship.
Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami will play all of its home matches at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale starting with the first-ever match on Saturday, March 14, against the LA Galaxy. Located off Commercial Boulevard and I-95, the stadium stands adjacent to the Club's new 50,000 square foot state of the art training facility, which includes seven professional fields. The facility will be the home to all Inter Miami teams including MLS, USL League One and Academy. It will also host international clubs, tournaments and local high school sporting events.
The only way to guarantee your spot at every regular season Inter Miami match is to purchase a full-season membership.
