Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons were out-shot 45-28 by the Gwinnett Gladiators en route to a 5-0 shutout loss, their third home loss in a row and fifth in their last 10 games overall as the team is in the middle of a tight divisional playoff race heading into the final nine regular-season games.

The Gladiators came with a relentless attack during the first period by out-shooting the Falcons 21-8 and scoring two goals.

Brad Schell capitalized on his team's offensive pressure by scoring the game's first goal at 11:25 of the first for a 1-0 Gwinnett lead. The Gladiators went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead after Andrew Oke netted a goal 19:01 into the period.

The Falcons were out-shot again in the second and trailed 3-0 after Gwinnett's Mike Vigilante was the man who grabbed control of the puck out of a crowd of players in front of Fresno goalie Jamie Hodson and found the back of the net at 14:38 of the period.

A 4-0 lead was quickly built in the third as the Gladiators' Jeff Campbell scored a goal 1:25 into the period. The lead was extended to 5-0 when Kris Goodjohn's shot found the back of the net at 8:26 of the third.

The loss in front of 4,890 fans keeps the Falcons in fifth place in the West Division, one point behind the fourth-place Idaho Steelheads.

The Falcons begin a five-game road trip starting Thursday, March 24, with a three-game series at Idaho followed by trips to Las Vegas and Bakersfield. Fresno returns to Save Mart Center Saturday, April 2, to play Alaska before finishing the regular season with a three-game home series against the Long Beach Ice Dogs April 3, 8 and 9.

Regular-priced tickets are on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497), or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
