Falcons Set To Host Sound Tigers Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Bridgeport Sound Tigers will meet for the sixth time this season when they get together on Friday night at the MassMutual Center starting at 7:30 pm.  The Falcons are 1-3-1-0 against the Sound Tigers this year, including 1-1-1-0 on home ice,  Tonight will also be the start of a home-and-home series between these two teams that concludes on Saturday night in Bridgeport.

The Falcons are looking to rebound from a 2-1 loss suffered on Wednesday night in Manchester against the Monarchs.  Springfield built a 1-0 first period lead in that contest on a Rob Hisey goal, his fourth marker in five games with the Falcons.  Manchester responded with a pair of Marc-Andre Cliché goals to skate away with the win. 

The Sound Tigers will be looking to end a three-game losing streak tonight as they arrive at The Nest.  Bridgeport hasn't played since they dropped a 4-3 decision on Sunday, January 3 at Worcester. 

FALCONS NOTES

-           Center Rob Hisey has four goals and one assist in five games with the Falcons since signing a PTO on December 29. 

-           Charles Linglet has three assists in his last three games played.

-           Defenseman Kevin McLeod made his Falcons/AHL debut on January 6 at Manchester after signing a PTO on January 5.

SOUND TIGERS PLAYER NOTES

-           Jesse Joensuu has points in five straight games for the Sound Tigers collecting two goals and five assists in that span.

-           Greg Mauldin is on a three-game scoring streak collecting one goal and two assists in that span.

January 8, 2010

- The Springfield Falcons announced that goaltender Devan Dubnyk has been reassigned to the Falcons by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers.  Dubnyk started in goal Thursday for the Oilers against the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

Dubnyk has played in 21 games with the Falcons this year posting a record of 10-10-1 with a 3.00 goals against average and a.916 save percentage.

January 5, 2010

- The Springfield Falcons announced they have signed defenseman Kevin McLeod to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO).  McLeod made his AHL/Falcons debut on Wednesday at Manchester.   

McLeod has played in 26 games for the Central Hockey League's Texas Brahmas this season leading all Texas defensemen in scoring with 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points.  The 6-foot-3, 238-pound native of Calgary, Alberta has spent the last three seasons with Texas helping lead the Brahmas to a 2009 CHL Championship.

SOUND TIGERS PLAYERS TO WATCH

- Sean Bentivoglio leads the Sound Tigers in scoring with 24 points, including 12 goals and 12 assists. Greg Mauldin has scored 12 goals while Trevor Smith has 11 tallies on the year. Greg Moore has 20 points, including seven goals and 13 assists. On the blue-line, captain Mark Wotton has 13 assists, while Dustin Kohn has 12 helpers. Jesse Joensuu has registered a goal and three assists since returning from his recall with the NY Islanders last month. Joensuu has 20 points, including six goals and a team high 14 assists, on the season.
