Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons scratched and clawed their way back from a two-goal deficit to pull even in the third period, but once again fell just short losing to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 in front of 3,580 at the MassMutual Center. For the second straight weekend, goaltender Devan Dubnyk made the cross-country jouney from Edmonton to Springfield and was steady between the pipes. The Falcons head to Bridgeport on Saturday night to conclude the home-and-home series with the Sound Tigers.

"The only negative from tonight's game was the final score," said Falcons head coach Rob Daum. "But you don't get any moral victories in pro sports, we played hard, we played well, we outchanced them, we just didn't get the win as the final result."

The night didn't start out well for the Falcons as they fell behind 2-0 in the first period on goals by Bridgeport's Greg Moore and Jesse Joensuu giving the Sound Tigers a two-goal cushion heading into the first intermission.

The Falcons battled back in the second period when Rob Hisey scored his fifth goal in his sixth game with the Falcons when his shot from the left wing boards found the back of the net. Falcons forward Charles Linglet was crashing the net on the play causing a screen in front of Bridgeport goaltender Nathan Lawson.

Springfield ended up on a late four-minute power play in the middle frame when Bridgeport's Mark Flood was whistled for slashing and roughing Springfield's Slava Trukhno. The power play carried over into the third period, but Springfield failed to convert.

Trailing 2-1 in the third period, the line of Hisey, Linglet and Liam Reddox went to work once again as it was Reddox scoring his sixth goal of the year at 12:42 evening the score at 2-2. Springfield's momentum wouldn't last long as Bridgeport's Micheal Haley snapped a shot past Dubnyk just 36-seconds after Reddox's equalizer putting the Sound Tigers on top 3-2.

The Falcons registered a season-high 39 shots while outshooting Bridgeport 39-37 in the game.
