Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - Luke Curtin notched two assists, while Brady Leisenring tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Fresno Falcons to a 3-2 shootout win over the Las Vegas Wranglers in front of 6,741 fans at Save Mart Center on Friday night.
Las Vegas scored a pair of goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Lucas Lawson opened the scoring at 10:23, gathering in a loose puck at the top of the crease and beating Scott Stirling with a snap shot to the glove side.
The Wranglers doubled the lead just over two minutes later with a power-play tally off of the stick of Jason Jozsa, who one-timed a shot from the left-wing circle past Stirling.
Fresno got on the board 14:42 on the first period with a power-play goal of its own. Leisenring took a cross-ice pass from Luke Curtin and one-timed a shot past Mike McKenna from the left-wing circle to make it 2-1.
Exactly four minutes later, the Falcons pulled even. With Stirling pulled on a delayed penalty, Rob McFeeters gathered in a bouncing puck at the hash marks and beat McKenna with a quick wrist shot to tie score through 40 minutes.
Neither team scored in the third period or in overtime, sending the game to a shootout. In the shootout, Leisenring scored in round three, while Colin Shields scored in round five to give Fresno the win.
Opening Weekend Extravaganza presented by Carl's Jr. continues on Sunday as the Falcons once again host the Wranglers at 5:00 p.m. The first 3,000 fans in attendance receive a 2006-07 Falcons' magnetic schedule. Fans are also encouraged to bring their skates to the game to join Falcons' players on the ice following the game for a post-game skating session.
