BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, set to play in front of another packed house, look to get in the win column when they host the Idaho Steelheads tonight at Rabobank Arena. Glow-in-the-dark Trick-or-Treat Buckets, presented by KGET-TV 17 and McMillin Homes, will be given to the first 2,000 kids 12-and-under. Jack Sparrow from "The Pirates of the Caribbean" will also be in attendance.

SERIES HISTORY: The Condors and Steelheads met six times last season, with Bakersfield holding a 4-2-0 series edge. The two teams are slated to meet seven times this season. The Condors are 30-36-7 all-time against the Steelheads, dating back to 1997-98.

LAST GAME: OCT. 20 VS. STOCKTON Tim O'Connell had a goal and two assists, while Devan Dubnyk made 48 saves, as the Stockton Thunder cruised to a 6-1 victory and spoiled the home opener for Bakersfield Friday night, before 6,440 at Rabobank Arena. The Condors had a handful of chances early to get on the board and set the tone, but Dubnyk made stellar save after stellar save. Stockton on the other hand buried its chances, scoring a pair of goals in all three periods. Teams combined for 36 power plays in the contest as Stockton went 2-for17 and Bakersfield finished 1-for- 19.
CONDORS UPDATE: The Condors (0-1-0) are now 8-4-0 all-time on Opening Night, dating back to the West Coast Hockey League. Bakersfield finished second in the Pacific Division last season and had a 25-12-1 record after the all-star break, tied for the third best record in the National Conference. The Condors also won a playoff series for the first time in their history, eliminating the Long Beach Ice Dogs in Game 7 of the Pacific Division Semifinals. Out of Bakersfield's fist 14 games, 10 are at home. Marty Raymond is the only head coach in Condors history to post back-to-back 40 win seasons. He is seven victories away from becoming Bakersfield's all-time winningest coach.
PLAYER NOTES: The Condors begin the 2006-07 season with 12 regulars returning from last year's squad: Scotty Balan, Alexandre Bolduc, Scott Borders, Mike Hofstrand, Andrew Ianiero, Joel Irving, Reagan Leslie, Josh Liebenow, Tyler Scott, Kevin St. Jacques, Kevin Truelson and Sean Venedam. Borders, still recovering from a broken femur suffered in Game 7 of the Pacific Division Finals, will start the season on the injured list. He's joined by newcomer Steve Rodberg who suffered a knee injury Oct. 10 in the scrimmage against Stockton.

IDAHO UPDATE: Idaho (1-0-0) skated to a 2-1 win in its season opener last night in Long Beach. Derek Nesbitt netted the game-winning power-play goal in the third period and goaltender Steve Silverthorne made 32 saves. The Steelheads finished third in the West Division last season with 94 points and were eliminated by the Las Vegas Wranglers in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Idaho has eight players returning from last year's squad: (D'Arcy McConvey, Marty Flichel, Greg Rallo, Kory Scoran, Mike Gabinet, Blake Forsythe and Silverthorne).
TRANSACTIONS: Alex Rogosheske was activated from the injured list today, while Danny Stewart was placed on the three- day injured reserve. Preston Briggs (ankle sprain), Borders (leg), and Rodberg (knee) all remain out of the lineup. Brett Lutes was acquired from Stockton Wednesday for future considerations. Lutes played with Bakersfield in 2004-05.
