OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Round Rock Express (15-13 | 59-43) snapped their seven-game losing streak and took down the Oklahoma City Dodgers (18-10 | 68-33) by a final of 4-2 on Tuesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Round Rock starter RHP Seth Nordlin (1-1, 4.79) delivered 5.0 innings of scoreless baseball with only three hits and four strikeouts. He did not issue a walk. Los Angeles Dodgers rehabber RHP Ryan Pepiot (0-2, 6.00) got the start for Oklahoma City and earned the loss after throwing 4.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits. He walked one and struck out four. Express RHP Ian Kennedy earned his second save of the year after 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball with only one hit and three punchouts.
Along the Train Tracks:
Express CF J.P. Martinez lifted the offense to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The leadoff home run for Martinez traveled 410 feet to right field.
The Round Rock offense tallied two more runs in the fifth inning thanks to RF Elier Hernandez. After Martinez and 2B Justin Foscue each singled, the Express got aggressive with a double steal to put runners on second and third base. Hernandez singled to left field which scored both runs and extended the lead to 3-0.
In the sixth inning, SS Jonathan Ornelas singled, C Kevin Plawecki walked and DH Sandro Fabian singled to load the bases. Martinez came up with another critical knock and singled to give the E-Train a 4-0 advantage.
Oklahoma City got on the board in the sixth inning. With 3B Michael Busch on second base after a double, 2B Miguel Vargas homered to cut the lead to 4-2. The Dodgers threatened with men aboard in the eighth and ninth innings but could not scratch a run across as the E-Train rumbled to a win.
