
Ex-Snappers Head to AZ Fall League

With the end of the 2009 Minor League baseball season approaching a few former Snapper players will be heading to Arizona for the Arizona Fall League which begins October 13th.
The league is designed to give prospects more playing time with such big names as the Washington Nationals 2009 first overall pick Stephen Strasburg and former Peoria Chiefs Josh Vitters claiming roster spots.
Former Snapper pitching coach R.C. Lichtenstein will be hold the same position for the Phoenix Desert Dogs this fall.
The Mesa Solar Sox will feature seven former Snappers on their roster including pitchers Alex Burnett, Steve Hirschfeld, Mike McCardell and Spencer Steedley, infielders Chris Parmelee and Steve Singleton, and outfielder and 2009 Futures Game MVP Rene Tosoni.
Steve Singleton has split time with both the Ft. Myers Miracle and the New Britain Rock Cats this season, hitting a combined .287 in 113 games.
Twins' former first round pick Chris Parmelee has played in 113 games with Ft. Myers in which he has 16 home runs and driven in 70 runs.
Alex Burnett has also spent time with Ft. Myers and New Britain going 3-3 this season in 54 appearances. In 70 frames pitched, Burnett has an ERA of 1.80 and has averages one strike out per inning pitched.
