NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - David Shantz made 31 saves to backstop the Florida Everblades to their fifth consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays, who had their three-game winning streak snapped before 5,240 fans at the North Charleston Coliseum.

"We played a solid 60 minutes tonight even though I don't like the end result," South Carolina coach Jason Fitzsimmons said. "The effort was there from our side. Our goal is to finish up our home schedule before the holiday break on a positive note against Augusta on Wednesday."

Florida (17-7-0, 34 points) got rolling at 11:44 of the first period. Mike Angelidis beat goaltender Daren Machesney in close to deposit his eighth goal of the season. Brett Peterson picked up the lone assist.

It stayed 1-0 for the Everblades until the third period, when Florida veteran Reggie Berg stole the puck behind the Stingrays net and spotted former South Carolina forward Dustin Johner, who tallied his team-leading 12th goal of the season at 8:05.

South Carolina (12-11-2, 26 points) replied on the power play at 13:39. T.J. McElroy hammered a shot from the slot through Shantz on the Stingrays 29th shot of the game. McElroy's 2nd of the year was assisted by Evan Schwabe and Matt Reid.

Stingrays pulled Machesney for the extra attacker in the final minute. Berg slid the puck into the empty-net with one second remaining in regulation to cap the scoring.

Additional Note: Toby O'Brien, pro scout for the New York Islanders, was on hand to take in the game.

South Carolina converted on 1-of-4 power play opportunities, while Florida went 0-for-4. Stingrays outshot the Everblades 32-25.

The Stingrays remain at home for their next game at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday against the Augusta Lynx at the North Carolina Coliseum. It's Carolina MedCare Night, with 2,500 T-Shirts to be tossed to the fans in the stands.
