Ice Pilots make roster moves

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL announced on Friday the signing of goaltender Ben Gray to a contract.

Gray, a native of Farmingdale, Maine had a terrific training camp for the Ice Pilots and was a late cut. He also spent some time early in the season with the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League.

Gray was added to the roster after goaltender Mike Ayers announced he was leaving the team for Denmark. It was the final week for European teams to sign North American players.

In other news, the Ice Pilots signed defenseman Jesse Baraniuk from the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League for the remainder of the season. Baraniuk had a solid game on Tuesday night versus the Charlotte Checkers.

Pensacola also made news on the trade front acquiring Derrick Byfuglien from the Augusta Lynx for future considerations. Byfuglien had one goal and seven assists for eight points and 27 penalty minutes.

Ice Pilots announced that Captain Dwayne Hay and Team President Greg Schuh are serving as Head Coaches this weekend, while Joe Clark is in Augusta Maine on a family emergency.
