Stockton Thunder News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. *Tyler Mosienko scored a game-winning goal in the fourth round of a shootout for the Las Vegas Wranglers, sending the Stockton Thunder (14-2-5, 33 points) to a 3-2 shootout loss before 5,324 at Orleans Arena on Friday night.

The Thunder was paced behind goaltender Devan Dubnyk's 22 saves, including four in overtime on a late Las Vegas flurry which threatened for the game-winner while the Wranglers nursed a 4-on-3 power-play.

Stockton's Troy Bodie began the scoring at the first period's 9:15 mark for his 11th goal on the year. While on the power-play, the Thunder kept Las Vegas pinned in their own defensive zone which freed up Mike Lalonde behind the right goal line, who found Bodie camped out 10 feet deep in the slot and buried a one-timer over Las Vegas goaltender Kevin Nastiuk's glove.

Las Vegas tied the game at 1-1 only 1:28 later on the power-play, when Derek Edwardson picked up a rebound in the low slot and roofed a wrist shot over Dubnyk's glove, after Steve Crampton's shot from the left wing deflected off traffic to an open Edwardson.

Both teams battled through a defensive-oriented second period, as the Thunder held Las Vegas to only four shots on goal, despite two acrobatic stops late in the period by Dubnyk.

Aki Seistonen gave the Wranglers their first lead on the night at 2-1 with 6:55 gone in the third frame, when a number of players jammed at a loose puck at the front of the net, causing a carom to bounce to an open Seitsonen at the left side of the crease. Seitsonen followed by batting in a fluttering puck past Dubnyk's right pad.

Just 2:50 later, the Thunder capitalized on penalty trouble by Las Vegas and knotted the game at 2-2 on Tim Sestito's fifth goal of the season. Bodie fed a sharp-angle shot to the front of the net, producing a rebound for a camped-out Sestito at the top of the crease and slipped it past Nastiuk for a power-play goal.

After a scoreless overtime, Mosienko scored the shootout decider in the fourth round by deking Dubnyk to the glove side and roofed a backhander under the crossbar. Sestito was stoned by Nastiuk in the final frame on a forehand attempt to Nastiuk's stick side.

The Thunder is now unbeaten in 12 of its last 13 games and was paced offensively by Bodie's goal and assist.

The four-game road trip continues for the Thunder on Saturday, December 16 with a 7:00 p.m. game against the Long Beach Ice Dogs at Long Beach Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (audio only, free-of-charge) at www.stocktonthunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).
