March 26, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
AUGUSTA, GA - The Florida Everblades (43-20-3) saw their season-long six-game winning streak come to an end after a 3-0 defeat by the Augusta Lynx (29-32-6) on Sunday afternoon at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
Augusta goaltender Mike Wall stopped all 32 shots the Everblades fired at him en-route to his first shutout of the season, helping the Lynx collect the final playoff spot in the South Division. Along with Wall's goaltender, the Lynx picked up two goals from Ryan Lang, and saw rookie Will Bodine tally his first professional goal.
Lang opened the scoring by swatted a bouncing puck past Everblades goaltender Kevin Nastiuk at 6:40 of the first period. That goal stood as the game's only one until the third peiod. In the final stanza, Bodine's fist pro goal came as he dumped the puck in from the center ice line and snuck it past Nastiuk for a 2-0 lead just 2:17 in to period. Lang sealed the game with his 18th goal of the season after banking a shot off Nastiuk from behind the goal line with 5:55 remaining in regulation. The blanking marked the first time since opening night the Everblades failed to score a goal.
With the loss Nastiuk saw his personal six-game winning streak come to an end, dropping his overall record to 12-4-1 after allowing the three goals on 31 shots.
On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 0-for-2, while the Lynx closed out the game 0-for-2.
The Everblades return to action on Tuesday, March 28 when they take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum.
