TRENTON, NJ (March 26, 2006) - It took thirteen rounds of the shootout, but Eric Werner's tally in the top half of round thirteen gave the Reading Royals a 3-2 win over the Trenton Titans in front of 5,414 at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

Twice the Titans were able to stave off defeat in the shootout, but could not beat Cody Rudkowsy more than twice as he recorded 22 saves through three periods and overtime.

Jim Henkel gave Trenton the lead 7:41 into the game with a power play tally tipping home Mike Jarmuth's wrist shot for his 18th of the year.

The Royals answered back on the man-advantage at 15:01 of the first when Larry Courville redirected Chris Bala's pass under the pad of Rejean Beauchemin.

Trenton would take the lead back with 29.1 seconds left before the first intermission as Seamus Young completed a shorthanded 2-on-1 for his professional goal.

The Titans' slim edge would hold until 11:25 of the third period when Bala took a drop pass from Courville and unleashed a wrister to the far post to make the score 2-2

In the overtime Trenton would enjoy a power play for the final ninety seconds and outshoot Reading 4-0, but could not notch the game-winner.

Beauchemin continued his strong play in net making 30 saves through the overtime and 10-of-13 in the shootout.

The Titans finished the afternoon 1-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Trenton continues its five-game homestand against the Johnstown Chiefs on Wednesday, March 29 at 7:00pm. Fans can tune into WBCB 1490AM or head to www.trentontitans.com to listen live courtesy of b2 Networks.
