March 26, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
Wheeling, W V- For the second night in a row the Bombers were able to take an early two goal lead over their opponents on the road, this time it was against the Wheeling Nailers.
Andy Cote (1) got things started with his first career goal at the 4:59 mark of the first period. Cote intercepted a clearing attempt by Nailers defenseman Luis Tremblay and as soon as he got the puck let one go from the slot and snuck it underneath the stick side of Nailers starter Kevin Schieve to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead.
Again for the second straight game not only did the Bombers take the two goal lead, but they do it less than two minutes apart. Jeff Legue (18, third as a Bomber) made it 2-0 finishing a play set up by Kyle Musselman (6) and Tim Konsorada (team leading 29th of the season) at the 6:29 mark.
Mike Brown got the start for the Bombers in net and early on made some big saves to allow the Bombers to hold onto the 2-0 lead, but the Wheeling power play would allow them to not only tie it but take the lead as well. Kurtis McLean cut the lead to one with a one-timer in the slot for the first Wheeling power play goal.
Then after the Nailers tied it on an even strength goal by Arpad Mihaly, the Nailers took a 3-2 lead with their second power play goal of the period off the stick of McLean once again. The Nailers would add another and take a 4-2 lead into the dressing room after the first.
Not much offense occurred between both teams in the second period, but despite that the Nailers found ways to add two more goals on the Bombers and they then had a 6-2 lead after two periods of play.
The Bombers turned up the offense as much as they could in the third out shooting the Nailers 13-12 but it was not enough and Wheeling came away with the 6-2 victory
