Evansville Otters News Release

(WASHINGTON, Penn.) - The Evansville Otters defeated the Washington Wild Things 6-1 on Thursday night, winning the series at Consol Energy Park.

The game was low-scoring early on as Washington tallied their only run on a bases loaded walk in the first inning and Evansville matched it with a sacrifice fly by shortstop Jared Jordan in the next inning.

The score would stay 1-1 until the 8th inning when the Otters surged ahead with three more runs. The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch, outfielder Alex Foltz extended the inning with an infield single and Joe Spiers added a run-producing base hit for the 4-1 edge. Evansville added two more runs in the ninth inning as they would win the game 6-1 over Washington.

The Otters are now 26-43 this season as the Wild Things drop to 30-37. Six different hitters had multi-hit games for the Otters.

Evansville starter Matt Trent did not factor into the decision, but he did allow only one run on three hits over six innings. The win goes to reliever Joey Satriano (3-0) for a scoreless inning as Washington starter Gary Lee (1-4) received the loss. There was no save in the game.

The Otters will now travel to Ohio, beginning a series at the Lake Erie Crushers on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT at All Pro Freight Stadium.
