Hagerstown Suns News Release

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (63-45/21-18) committed four costly errors over the first two inning against the West Virginia Power (45-64/22-17) resulting in a 4-2 loss at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday night. All four Power runs were unearned.

Suns starter Taylor Jordan (0-1) suffered the loss pitching five innings while giving up four unearned runs on four hits, one walk and two strike outs. Centerfielder J.R. Higley belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning, his first of the season, to cut West Virginia's lead in half but that is as close as the Suns would get.

Power starting pitcher Robby Rowland (6-3) earned the victory going 6.2 innings allowing two runs on seven hits, one walk and four strike outs. Centerfielder Greg Polanco did all the damage at the plate, driving in all four runs with a three-run double in the second inning being the big blow.

The Suns and Power will play game three of their series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Brian Rauh (0-1, 6.23) takes the mound for Hagerstown against West Virginia's LHP Mike Jefferson (4-6, 4.81).
