Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta GreenJackets Wednesday night 7-6 in ten innings before 1,648 fans. The game was delayed one hour and twenty eight minutes due to storms moving through the Northwest Georgia area. It was Rome's tenth consecutive win.

Augusta jumped to an early lead in the first inning with three unearned runs. After two outs, Rome's third baseman Brandon Drury misplayed a groundball hit by Brett Krill allowing Jesus Galindo to score from third. Garrett Buechele then lined a two RBI single to right giving the GreenJackets the 3-0 lead. They added single runs in the third, fourth, and seventh to make it a 6-0 game. Four of the six Augusta runs were unearned.

Rome bounced back in the eighth to make it a 6-4 game. William Beckwith had a ground out to score a run and Robby Hefflinger had a two RBI double. Kyle Kubitza added a double to score Hefflinger for the fourth run of the inning. The Braves tied the game in the ninth thanks to a two run single by Tony Mueller to send the game into extra innings. After one out in the tenth, Drury singled and tried to score on a double by Will Skinner but was thrown out at the plate for the second out. With Skinner at second, Ryan Query sent a fly ball to shallow right center that neither the Augusta centerfielder or rightfielder could catch and Skinner was able to cross the plate for the winning run.

Rome's John Cornley (1-3) gets the win in relief while Kevin Couture (2-6) gets the loss.

The Braves face the GreenJackets in the final game of the series tomorrow afternoon at 1p.m. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
