ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves return home to begin a six-game homestand and a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) at Jerry Uht Park. The âWolves have dropped three straight games for the fifth time this season and look to avoid their first four-game losing skid. Erie has fallen in six of its last eight games and the club now sits in third place in the EL South, five games behind first place Akron and 1.5 games behind second place Reading. After playing the first 56 games of the season against Southern Division opponents, tonight marks Erie first game against the EL North. The âWolves will play 41 games overall and 12 consecutive games against the Northern Division. Erie was 21-25 against the North in 2008...Portland comes into tonight's game having won six of its last eight. The Sea Dogs are in a third place tie in the North, 2.5 games out of first. Tonight is also Portland's first non-division game...Righty Alfredo Figaro takes the mound tonight for the âWolves making his 10th start.. Figaro is coming off of his roughest outing of the season against Altoona where he gave up eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in taking his second loss. Figaro is 1-2 with three no-decisions in his last six starts and has not given up fewer than five runs in each of his last three...Righty Ryne Lawson takes the mound for Portland. Lawson makes his seventh start of the season. He took a no-decision in his last outing against Binghamton going six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout...Erie and Portland have tied season series in four of the last five years. Erie won the 2007 season series 4-2. Erie was 2-1 vs. Portland at home last season.
