Erie SeaWolves News Release
Today, the SeaWolves look for a road series win as they take on the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) in the rubber game of a three-game series at New Britain Stadium. Last night, Erie jumped ahead 2-0 in the fifth, only to see the Rock Cats tie the game in the bottom half. The âWolves went on to outscore the Rock Cats 6-0 over the final four innings of the game en route to an 8-2 win. The win for the SeaWolves brings the club to a pair of games under .500 and to five games behind first place Harrisburg. Erie is just one game behind second place Bowie and Altoona...The âWolves send righty Mark Sorensen to the mound making his 12th start. Sorensen leads all Erie pitchers with five wins but has struggled in two of his last three starts. Sorensen was roughed up in his last start at Altoona on June 7 in the opening game of the current road trip. In the game, he allowed a season-high eight runs on nine hits with a walk while equaling a season-high with seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. It was his second-shortest outing of the season. Erie lost the game 10-5...RHP Deinys Suarez takes the mound for the Rock Cats making his second start. In his last start against Akron, Suarez allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout in four innings of work. Suarez was recently signed as a free agent by the Twins and is in his first season of professional baseball...The SeaWolves head home following today's game and will have the day off on Monday. It will be the club's last off day until the All-Star Break. Following Monday, Erie will play 29 games in a span on 28 days with a doubleheader on 5/28 vs. BNG.
