Things would not improve for Pimentel in the second inning as a hit batsman, two hits, and an error by second baseman Oscar Tejeda would lead to four Bowie runs highlighted by a three run blast by Waring. Bowie took a 7-1 lead and knocked Pimentel out of the game after 1.1 innings having allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits. His ERA rises to 9.44 on the season.

Lavarnway and Chih-Hsien Chiang each drove-in three runs as Portland would attempt to overcome the deficit. Lavarnway picked-up his second RBI of the day with a RBI single in the third. Chiang followed with a two run double to extend his hit streak to 11 games and brining the score to 10-4. In the fifth inning, Hassan ripped a RBI double off the Maine Monster, Lavarnway hit a sacrifice fly to center for his third RBI and Chiang chipped-in with a RBI ground out as Portland closed within three runs of Bowie.
