TODAY: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and New Hampshire Fisher Cats will meet in the finale of a three-game series...Right-handers Daryl Maday and Henry Sosa combined on a seven-hit shutout and Justin Christian drove in the only two runs of the game as Richmond topped New Hampshire 2-0 in game two of the series on Saturday night in front of 4,050 fans at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
TODAY'S STARTERS: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in the series finale for the Flying Squirrels...Making his 12th start of the season...Enters the season rated as the #30 prospect in the Giants farm system according to Baseball America...Suffered the loss in his last outing 6/7 at Portland...Allowed five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings...Struck out three batters and walked one...Four of the six hits he allowed went for extra bases including three home runs...All five runs allowed came on home runs...Allowed the leadoff batter to reach in three of his five innings on the mound (scored twice)...Recorded six groundouts and three flyouts/popouts...Threw 72 pitches, 47 strikes...Threw first-pitch strikes to 13 of the 19 batters he faced...Second time in his last three starts and third time in 11 outings overall he failed to go at least five innings...Team fell to 1-10 in his 11 starts...Has averaged 2.18 runs of support (24R/11GS)...Club has scored two runs or less in seven of his 11 starts...Spent the entire 2010 season with Richmond and went 9-9 with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts...Struck out 79 batters and walked 64 in 149 innings...Named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star, but did not pitch in the game...Finished the season ninth in the EL in ERA...Member of the San Francisco Giants 40-man roster...Selected in the 3rd round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

PULLING EVEN: With a win today in the series finale at New Hampshire, the Flying Squirrels could get back to the .500 mark for the first time since 5/28 when the club was 24-24...Richmond has not had a winning record since it was 5-4 on 4/15...The club is also aiming for its third consecutive series victory for the first time this season...Entering their current six-game road trip, the Flying Squirrels had won just one series on the road (5/20-5/22).
SHUTDOWN SQUIRRELS: The Flying Squirrels tossed their fifth shutout of the season in last night's 2-0 win at New Hampshire...It was the club's first shutout since posting a 4-0 blanking at Bowie 6/2...Right-hander Daryl Maday has started two of the five shutouts tossed by Richmond this season...It was the second time that the Fisher Cats have been shutout this season.
PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.83 ERA through 61 games, the only staff with a sub-three ERA...Richmond's 2.83 staff ERA is the third-lowest in all of MiLB, trailing the Low-A Burlington Bees (2.75) and Advanced-A Clearwater Threshers (2.76)...The pitching staff has logged a league-high 559 1/3 innings of work and has allowed a league-low 209 runs.
FRESH PICKED: Right-hander Daryl Maday picked off New Hampshire right fielder Moises Sierra in the bottom of the second inning last night...It was the 12th baserunner picked off by Richmond pitchers this season and fourth picked off by Maday.
JUSTIN TIME: Outfielder Justin Christian matched a season-high with three hits last night including a double and two RBIs...It was the fourth three-hit game of the season for the 31-year-old and his first since 5/2 at New Britain...Since collecting a season-high three RBIs 5/15 against Harrisburg, Christian was just 1-for-16 (.063) with runners in scoring position over a 24-game stretch entering last night's contest.
THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick is batting .319 (37-for-116) over his last 30 games with six doubles, a triple, four home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored...The 24-year-old has 14 multi-hit games over that span which also includes a season-long eight-game hit streak...He has raised his batting average from .173 to .250 since 5/7.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN: The Flying Squirrels are in a stretch where they will play 13 of 16 games on the road...The team is 7-8 through the first 15 games of that stretch including a 5-7 mark on the road...Overall, the club is 11-20 on the road, and is batting .198 (204-for-1,030) and averaging 3.03 runs per game (94R/31G) in 31 road contests...Richmond recently completed a stretch of playing 10 out of 13 games at home, going 8-5 over those 13 contests...The Flying Squirrels are 18-11 at home and are batting .253 (262-for-1,035) in 30 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.17 runs per game at home (125R/30G).
