NEW BRITAIN, CT - Mark Sorensen fired seven shutout innings as Erie blanked the Rock Cats, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves took the series, two games to one.

Rock Cats starter Dennis Suarez got off to a shaky start, throwing six straight balls to open the first inning. After walking the leadoff man and throwing two balls to Brandon Douglas, Suarez was able to force Douglas to ground into a double play. He then struck out Francisco Martinez to end the inning.

Suarez managed to keep the Seawolves off the board until the sixth when Bryan Holaday led off with a single to center and later scored on a Jamie Johnson double. It was the only run he would allow. Suarez (0-1) limited the Seawolves to three hits and struck out three in seven innings, but didn't receive the run support to pick up the win.

Erie added an insurance run in the top of the ninth off of reliever Tyler Robertson. Rawley Bishop knocked in Martinez, who reached base on a single, with a single to right field.

Sorensen (6-3) limited the Rock Cats to three hits while striking out four. Austin Wood fired a scoreless eighth and Chance Ruffin picked up his seventh save with one walk and no hits in the ninth.
