
Tolisano Homers But Fisher Cats Fall to Squirrels

Manchester, NH - John Tolisano drilled a two-run homer, his fourth of the season, but the Fisher Cats fell in the rubber game of a three-game set with Richmond 9-3 on Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Flying Squirrels opened the scoring in the first when Justin Christian walked, advanced to third on a stolen base/throwing error and scored on a groundout by Johnny Monell for a 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire came back to tie in the bottom of the first. Adeiny Hechavarria doubled, moved to second on a bunt single by Darin Mastroianni and scored on a passed ball.
The Fisher Cats (37-25) took a short-lived lead in the bottom of the second. Yan Gomes beat out an infield single ahead of the Tolisano home run.
Richmond moved in front for good with three runs in the top of the third inning against losing pitcher Robert Ray. Eliezer Zambrano (2-for-4) doubled, Skyler Stromsmoe (2-for-4) beat out a bunt single and Justin Christian reached on a fielders choice as Zambrano scored. Stromsmoe scored on a groundout and Roger Kieschnick tripled in Christian for a 4-3 lead.
The Flying Squirrels (31-31) also plated four runs in the top of the fifth, two coming across on a Zambrano single and added another run on a Stromsmoe single in the seventh inning for a 9-3 lead.
Ray (0-1), who was with the Fisher Cats in 2008 when he earned a club-leading eight wins, was making his first start of the season off the disabled list. He allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits in 4.2 innings. He walked two and struck out five.
Clayton Tanner (2-6) earned the win for Richmond, working the first seven innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits. Tanner did not issue a walk and struck out four.
After a day off on Monday, the Fisher Cats open a six-game road trip at Canal Park in Akron. RHP Joel Carreno (4-4, 3.38) opens the series for New Hampshire against Aeros LHP Kelvin De La Cruz (4-3, 3.42). Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 6:45pm.
