Tonight, the SeaWolves continue their first road trip of the season as they take on the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) in the second game of a four-game series at Prince George ¬â¢s Stadium. Last night, Bowie ¬â¢s pitching staff limited the SeaWolves to just a run on five hits. It was the first time in four games that Erie did not reach the seven run or 10-hit plateau. Erie continued to struggle hitting with runners in scoring position going just 1-for-6 in the game. Erie is now hitting under .200 with RISP...Erie can get back to a season-best two games over .500 with a win tonight...Righty Luke Putkonen takes the mound for the ¬ËWolves making his second start and first against the Baysox. Putkonen took a no-decision in his first start of the year against Altoona allowing a run on three hits in five solid innings of work...Lefty Richard Zagone takes the mound for Bowie making his second start and first against Erie. Zagone was sharp in his first start at Harrisburg, shutting out the Senators in five innings, allowing two hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts. Zagone made two starts against the SeaWolves last season and had a pair of no-decisions with a 3.86 ERA in those two appearances. He was selected by Baltimore in the sixth round of the 2008 draft...The ¬ËWolves look to avoid dropping back-to-back games for the second time this season...Despite going hitless in the series opener on Thursday, Michael Bertram ranks third in the league with a .438 batting average.
- Bowie leads the season series over Erie 1-0. Erie won the 2010 season series over the Bowie 15-8. The SeaWolves and Baysox meet 21 times in 2011. Each team will have three home series in this years season series.
- Chris Cron (Manager) and Jerry Martin (Hitting Coach) are both new to the Tigers system. Pitching Coach Ray Burris returns for his fourth consecutive season with the Howlers.
- 2011 marks the 17th season of SeaWolves baseball, the 13th season of Double-A and the 11th season as a Detroit Tigers affiliate.
