Adam Calderone Homers In 9th Inning To Give Fisher Cats 3-2 Win At Binghamton

(Binghamton, NY)---Adam Calderone drilled a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, rallying the Fisher Cats to a 2-1 win on Friday night in Binghamton, and making a winner of Chad Beck in his Double-A debut with New Hampshire.

Beck (1-0) worked the first eight innings, allowing just two hits. Jesus Feliciano reached on an infield single in the bottom of the first inning, and the only other hit came in the last of the eighth. Brahiam Maldanado took a 2-0 pitch over the left-field wall for his third home run and a 1-0 lead. At one point, Beck retired 15 consecutive batters. He did not walk a batter, and struck out five.

Binghamton (2-6) starter Brad Holt worked seven shutout innings, allowing four hits, a walk and five strikeouts and Erik Turgeon pitched a perfect eighth. Eric Niesen (0-1) was asked to try to close the game out.

Anthony Gose started the ninth for the Fisher Cats (5-4) by drawing a walk, but he was erased on a fielders choice grounder by Mike McDade. John Tolisano, who delivered a two-run double in the ninth inning to lift New Hampshire to a win on Thursday night, ran for McDade. Calderone followed with his first, and the club's first home run of the season for a 2-1 lead.

Ron Uviedo pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth, with two strikeouts, for his first save of the season.

The Fisher Cats continue the series in Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. LHP Robert Carson (0-1, 0.00) is the scheduled starter for the Mets against New Hampshire RHP Joel Carreno (0-1, 9.45). Game time is 1:05pm and radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 12:45 on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

New Hampshire returns to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium to play Binghamton on Thursday, April 21 at 6:35pm.
