With Rowell hitting, Ruffin delivered a wild pitch that sailed to the backstop, allowing Welty to score the winning run.

Putkonen did not factor in the decision, despite leaving the game for the second straight start with a lead. He tossed five innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
