Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC-- For the first time this season, the Asheville Tourists swept a South Atlantic League opponent. Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Kannapolis Intimidators was a blowout from the beginning. The Tourists led 13-0 before a pair of ninth inning, unearned runs by the visitors resulted in a 13-2 final score.

Josh Fuentes put Asheville on the board with an RBI single in the first. The Tourists added five more in the second. Emerson Jimenez and Max White delivered back-to-back RBI singles and Shane Hoelscher clubbed his first Home Run of the season; a three-run blast to left.

In the third, Luis Jean singled home Forrest Wall and Fuentes made it 8-0 with a solo Home Run in the fourth. Asheville erased any doubt with another five-run inning in the fifth. After Jimenez hit a sacrifice fly, Drew Weeks came to the plate with the bases loaded. Weeks laced a double off the right field wall plating all three runners. Fuentes then drove in Weeks with a double to right-center.

Zach Jemiola continued his brilliant 2015 campaign with a six inning pitching performance. Jemiola held Kannapolis scoreless while surrendering only two hits; a pair of ground ball singles that snuck through the infield. A minor two-out rally in the ninth led to the Intimidators' only runs of the game.

Fuentes finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and a triple shy of the cycle. Hoelscher, Jean, and Wes Rogers all came away with multi-hit performances.

Asheville finished with 33 runs in the three game series and is currently riding a season-high four game win streak. The Tourists will look to continue their success with a seven-game road trip beginning with Augusta on Thursday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
