
Power Leaves Hickory with 3-1 Victory

(Hickory, N.C. - May 20, 2015) - The West Virginia Power defeated the Hickory Crawdads 3-1 in the series finale at L.P. Frans Stadium on Wednesday morning. Alex McRae led the charge with six innings of one-run ball to lead the Power to a 2-1 series win in the road trip finale.
West Virginia scored the first run in the fifth. Trace Tam Sing led off the inning with a single and reached third when nobody covered third on Tyler Filliben's sacrifice bunt. He scored on an infield single by Connor Joe.
Leading 1-0, the Power surrendered a run in bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a single, stole second, and scored on Jose Cardona's first hit of the series.
In the sixth, West Virginia sent eight men to the plate and scored two runs. Michael Suchy led off the frame with a single to right and reached second when Pablo Reyes hit a bunt single. Tito Polo followed with a bunt single of his own to load the bases for Kawika Emsley-Pai, who walked on five pitches to make it a 2-1 game. With one out, Tyler Filliben hit a single up the middle to score Reyes and make it 3-1.
Hickory threatened in the seventh when reliever Miguel Rosario loaded the bases with nobody out. However, the right hander got out of the jam by recording two flyouts and a popout.
McRae (3-3) earned the victory for the Power after he went six innings and allowed one run on four hits. The 22-year-old didn't walk any batters and struck out three. Austin Pettibone (0-1) suffered the loss. Nick Neumann earned his team-best fifth save with a perfect ninth.
The Power (22-17) concluded the three-game series with the Crawdads (27-11) with the series victory to finish with a 4-4 record on the road trip. The Power held Hickory to two earned runs over 26.0 IP (0.69 ERA).
West Virginia returns home on Thursday night for a four-game series against the Delmarva Shorebirds. RHP Colten Brewer (0-1, 4.50) will make his second home start and he will be opposed by Delmarva righty Sebastian Vader. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. while pregame on the Power radio network is slated for 6:45 p.m.
Thursday's game will be a Thirsty Thursday presented by 96.1 The Wolf with $1 12 oz. drafts and $2 16 oz. cans. Also highlighting the four-game homestand is Redneck Night IV on Saturday with a Camo Hat Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. The award-winning promotion will also feature Redneck Idol, an appearance by History Channel's Appalachian Outlaws, and a pregame and postgame concert by the Davisson Brothers Band.
