Earthquakes Sign SuperDraft Selection Paul Marie

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed defender Paul Marie, the club's first-round selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. Marie has immediately been loaned to the club's USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC and can be recalled at any point this season.

Marie, 22, was selected by San Jose with the 12th overall pick out of Florida International University. After spending his freshman year at Newberry College, where he scored four goals and added an assist, he transferred to Florida International. Marie made 52 appearances for the FIU Panthers and totaled 14 goals and 14 assists. He was a Third Team All-America, First Team All-Southeast Region and First Team All-Conference USA selection as a senior in 2017.

The native of Saint-Aubin-des-Bois, France previously represented his home country at the U-16 level internationally. He also competed for the U-19 side at Caen of France's top-flight Ligue 1.
