Nemanja Nikolic to Receive 2017 MLS Golden Boot Trophy Prematch on March 31
March 16, 2018 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Chicago Fire FC News Release
There will definitely be a pregame party when the Fire host the Portland Timbers on Saturday, March 31.
Nemanja Nikolic, who led all MLS players with 24 goals in his debut season in the league in 2017, will officially receive his MLS Golden Boot trophy in a brief on-field ceremony prior to the Fire-Timbers matchup.
Fans are encouraged to arrive in their seats early to join in the celebration when Nikolic receives his trophy at approximately 4:50 p.m. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m.
Nikolic's 24 goals broke the club's long-standing single-season goals record and landed him in a tie for the sixth-highest goals total in MLS history, earning Nikolic a place in the MLS Best XI. The prolific return was hardly new for the 30-year-old striker, who won three consecutive Golden Boots (two in the Hungarian first division, one in the Polish Ekstraklasa) prior to his arrival in MLS.
The Fire-Timbers match represents the first half of a Chicago-Portland doubleheader on March 31, with the NWSL's Chicago Red Stars set to face the Portland Thorns shortly after the conclusion of the MLS contest.
All tickets purchased for the Fire vs. Timbers match will also include a General Admission ticket for the Red Stars game. Tickets are available.
