Eagles Collect over 3,500 Bears on 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Toss Night
December 18, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo.- On Saturday, December 13th the Colorado Eagles in conjunction with 107.9 The Bear hosted the second annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans were asked to help make the holidays a little more special for under privileged children across Northern Colorado. During the game against the Stockton Thunder, fans were encouraged to bring a new or gently used teddy bear or stuffed animal to throw onto the ice after the first Eagles goal. In addition, Pedersen Toyota donated 500 bears that were available for a small donation. The $1,106 raised from the teddy bear sales went to local children's charities. Just over four minutes into the first frame, Eagles forward Greg Gardner netted the game's first puck and sent 3,538 teddy bears flying onto the ice!
Four full-size Toyota Tundras courtesy of Pedersen Toyota Scion were stuffed full inside and out for the 107.9 "Bear Cares for Kids" campaign and donated to the Child Advocacy Research Education, United Daycare Center and the Kids Matter Project.
"This year's "Bear Toss" at the Colorado Eagles game on December 13th proved again how generous and fun the folks are in Northern Colorado. We collected more bears and stuffed animals this year than we did the last time. As a result, there will be thousands of kids in need who will benefit with a gift of a stuffed bear thanks to our great community. Our sincere thanks to The Colorado Eagles and Pederson Toyota for teaming up for this great event; it was a blast and worthy of a repeat next season. Honestly, I would love to do it again next week. Rock on!" Doc Jarnagin of 107.9 The Bear said.
The Eagles are truly honored to have again partnered with two outstanding Northern Colorado organizations 107.9 The Bear and Pedersen Toyota to make this very special event an extraordinary one. A big thank you goes out to all of the generous Eagles Fans that helped to make an incredible number of local children's holiday seasons that much better!
