Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Evansville IceMen presented by Coors Light, traded Defenseman Zach Sternberg to the Brampton Beast of the ECHL's Central Division for future considerations.
After being acquired in a trade with the Indy Fuel following the exhibition season, Sternberg played 11 games for the IceMen. The rookie scored his first ECHL point against the Fuel on Nov. 1.
Sternberg graduated from Lake Superior State where he netted five goals in each of his last two seasons with the Lakers. The 24-year-old recorded a college best 14 assists in his junior year.
The rookie leaves the IceMen with a -3 rating and one point. Sternberg missed each of the IceMen's last four games.
The trade to Brampton will allow Sternberg to move closer to his native Toronto. He will also join former IceMen Defenseman, Antoine Corbin who was acquired by Brampton earlier this year.
The IceMen will wrap up their this six game home stand as they host the Reading Royals for a pair of games on Friday on Saturday night. The Royals and IceMen will meet for the first time in 2014-15 as Evansville continues its four games in five nights stretch before the holiday break.
Fans are encouraged to bring donation items to Friday night's game as the IceMen give back to those less fortunate during the holiday season. Donate a children's coat to the IceMen office by 4 p.m on Friday and you can receive a free kids ticket to Friday's game.
Come celebrate the holidays with the IceMen on Saturday night as the first 3,000 fans through the doors will receive a free IceMen stocking from Woods Printing. Evansville players will also wear "Ugly Christmas Sweater Jerseys" that will be auctioned off after the game.
