Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

Clearwater, FL. - RHP Maximo Castillo (9-5) came into his start tonight having not lost since June 25th, and the successful stretch bled into his start tonight. Castillo threw 5.2 flawless innings to help guide Dunedin to the 6-0 victory at Spectrum Field on Wednesday night.

Castillo surrendered a walk to Simon Muzziotti to start the game, but went on to retire the next 11 hitters in a row and 17 of the final 18 batters he faced. The only other blemish on his evening resume was a double off the bat of Jhaylin Ortiz. In total, Castillo exited the game with four strikeouts and throwing 86 pitches.

On the offensive side of things, Dunedin plated two runs in the top of the first on Kacy Clemens two-run triple. In the top of the third, Ryan Noda and Demi Orimoloye drove in runs with back to back doubles to make it 4-0 Dunedin. The bats cooled off a tad in the middle portion of the game, but woke back up in the top of the eighth with two more runs scored on Nick Podkul and Jesus Navarro's RBI singles to stretch the Blue Jays lead to 6-0.

RHPs Sean Rackoski and Connor Law combined to throw 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball and register the sixth shutout in a row by the Blue Jays pen. The finale of the four game and season series takes place tomorrow at 7:00 E.T. at Spectrum Field. Live play-by-play coverage beginning at 6:45 E.T. across the Dunedin Blue Jays Baseball Network powered by TuneIn.
