Ducks and Griffins fit to be tied

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Mark Popovic scored his first professional goal and added an assist as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks skated to a 2-2 tie with the Grand Rapids Griffins Wednesday at Van Andel Arena.

Brendan Yarema also scored for Cincinnati, which is winless in its last four road games (0-2-2-0) and last three overall (0-1-1-1). Tony Martensson, who entered the game tied for eighth in the AHL in rookie scoring, added an assist to extend his point streak to four games.

Derek King and Rob Collins scored for the Griffins, who had a five-game winning streak halted but remain unbeaten in their last 11 (8-0-3-0), a franchise record.

Jean-Francois Damphousse made 35 saves for the Ducks. He stopped all four shots he faced in the third period and seven in overtime.

Marc Lamothe finished with 29 saves for the Griffins and is unbeaten in his last 10 games (6-0-4), tying the franchise mark set by Simon Lajuenesse last year (7-0-3).

The Ducks went 1-for-5 on the power-play, while Grand Rapids was 1-for-8 with the man-advantage.

Cincinnati plays the second game of a current four-game road trip Friday at Lowell. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and can be heard on flagship station 1360 WCKY-AM.
