Szuper Kids Introduced
November 20, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Saint John Flames News Release
Saint John, NB â Saint John Flames goaltender Levente Szuper today announced a partnership with Baxter Foods and the launch of a new arts program for elementary school students in Southern New Brunswick.
"Szuper Kids" was developed by Szuper to recognize extraordinary effort or talent among elementary school students in the areas of music, art, speech or drama. This unique program was created from Szuper's own passion for the arts, as he was a successful actor while growing up in Hungary.
"All areas of a child's education are important," stated Szuper. "However, the value of creativity can sometimes get overshadowed. Through my partnership with Baxter Foods on "Szuper Kids" we hope to reinforce to our young students that a well rounded education includes participation in a variety of arts opportunities.
"Szuper Kids" will be made available to students in grades 1 through 5 throughout School Districts 6, 8 and 10. Each participating school will be given the opportunity to nominate one student for their effort or talent in any of the listed areas. The Flames will recognize nominated students at weekend home games beginning December 6. Each nominated student will receive two tickets to a Flames game, a certificate of achievement and a two litres of Baxter milk.
Szuper plans on attending a number of school plays and visiting classrooms throughout the remainder of the season.
The Flames are in action this week visiting the Manitoba Moose Friday, November 22 at 9:30 PM and Saturday, November 23 at 9:30 PM. All Flames broadcasts can be heard live on 96.1 NewSong FM in Saint John or on the web at www.newsongfm.com. All times listed are Saint John time.
Tickets for all Flames November, December and January home games are currently available at the Harbour Station Box Office, the Imperial Theatre Box Office, selected Irving locations (Main Street West, Champlain Heights, Millidgeville, Marr Road, Hampton and Grand Bay), and Charge-by-Phone at 657-1234 or 1-800-267-2800.
The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the AHL and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
