Dragons Receive Reds 2nd Round Draft Pick Ryan Lamarre

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

Outfielder Andrew Means has been placed on the disabled list with a broken right index finger.

Outfielder Ryan LaMarre has been added to the roster after being selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of this week's draft.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Means suffered a broken finger in the first inning of Wednesday's game at Beloit and will be out indefinitely.

LaMarre (pronounced la-MAR) played college baseball for three seasons (2008-'10) at the University of Michigan. In 2010, he was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team and All-Big Ten Tournament team. He was also honored with the Bill Freehan Award as the Wolverines' top hitter. He was selected All-Big Ten Second Team in 2009.

As a junior in 2010, LaMarre batted .419, the sixth highest mark in school history. He added nine doubles, nine triples, five home runs, and 40 runs batted in. He started 35 games including 27 in left field, six in center field, and two in right field. He missed 18 games early in the season due to injury.

As a sophomore in 2009, he led Michigan with a .344 batting average while belting 12 home runs and driving in 62 runs.

LaMarre earned 12 varsity letters in high school in Jackson, Michigan, including four each in baseball, football, and hockey. He was a three-time all-state selection in baseball and set the school career home run record with 38. In football, he finished as his school's career leader in tackles and played on back-to-back state championship teams in 2003-'04. In hockey, he was his team captain and most valuable player as both a junior and senior.

The Dragons and Wisconsin Timber Ratters were postponed due to rain on Friday night. The game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, June 12th. The first game will start at 6:05 p.m. (EDT). Both games will be seven-inning games.

The Dragons next home game is Friday, June 18th against the Great Lakes Loons at Fifth Third Field.
