The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Timber Rattlers (affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) in the first game of a three-game set. Season Series: This is the first meeting between the clubs. Streaks: Dayton: Lost 2 (6-17 over last 23). Wisconsin: Lost 1 (4-10 over last 14).
Last Game: Beloit defeated Dayton 4-3 to take two of three games in the series. Danny Rams hit a two-run home run with two outs in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and the Snappers held off a Dragons comeback bid, stranding the tying run at third as the game ended. The Dayton loss spoiled a great performance by Dragons outfielder Cameron Satterwhite, who went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI. Satterwhite went 7 for 9 over the last two games of the series. Frank Pfister had three hits for Dayton and Shane Carlson added two. The Dragons finished with 11 hits but 10 were singles and they went 2 for 13 with runners in scoring position. Justin Walker took the loss, allowing three runs in six innings of work. He allowed five hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Jacob Johnson makes his 11th start of the season tonight. His last start came Saturday vs. Clinton and he earned the victory (5.0 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO). He has shown improvement over his last four starts, posting a 5-18 walk-strikeout ratio in 20 innings after a 15 BB-10 SO ratio in his first six starts over 27.1 innings. He is a 19-year-old native of Lake Worth, Florida. He was drafted by the Reds in the 11th round in 2009 out of Trinity Christian Academy. Johnson finished fifth in the 2009 Florida Mr. Baseball voting. He was named the Florida Class 1A Co-Player of the Year and a 1st Team All-State selection in '09. Johnson had committed to Wake Forest before signing with Reds. He played with the GCL Reds in 2009 (2-3, 2.83 ERA).
