WELL WHAT HAPPENED WAS: The South Bend Silver Hawks had their outfielders slip on two straight plays in the bottom of the ninth which allowed

the River Bandits to rally to a 7-6 win over South Bend. Jason Stidham hit a two-RBI double to tie the ballgame followed by a game-winning RBI

double by Niko Vasquez to edge the Silver Hawks 7-6. Scott Schneider (5-1) surrendered five runs on five hits through 5.1 innings against South

Bend, including a three-run homer off the bat of Matthew Davidson, his seventh, in the first inning. Schneider fanned seven and didn't allow

another run until the fifth in his seventh start of the season. Chris Notti threw 2.2 innings of relief, allowing just one run on four hits. Jason Novak

(2-1) picked up his second win of the season when he set down the Silver Hawks in order with a pair of punch outs in the ninth. Robert Stock

and Stidham led the way for the Bandits as they each drove in a pair of runs in the win over South Bend. Stock went 2-for-3 with a double, while

Stidham's only hit in the game was a two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the ninth which tied it up for Quad Cities. Vasquez was 2-for-5 with

a pair of runs scored and a game-winning RBI double. Scottie Allen (2-1) surrendered three runs on seven hits and was in line for his third win of

the season until the ninth inning when the Bandits scored three runs on three hits. Despite striking out three in just 1.2 innings of work Diogenes

Rosario (3-1) was charged with his first loss of the season when he allowed four runs, three earned, on just three hits.

SERIES AT A GLANCE: The River Bandits start their only series with the West Michigan Whitecaps this season. In 2009 the River Bandits struggled

against the Whitecaps going 1-5 including getting swept at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan. The Bandits dropped two of three at

home last season. The River Bandits will face the Whitecaps and the rest of the Eastern Division members due to the addition of Lake County and

Bowling Green to the Midwest League.

HOOKER: Deryk Hooker has been fairly successful this season going 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 12 appearances (6 starts). At home, Hooker has been

absolutely dominant going 2-0 with just a 0.36 ERA. He has only allowed one run through 25 innings of work on the mound at Modern Woodmen

Park. At home he's appeared in six games and started four of them. In his last three starts at home he has combined for 15 innings without

surrendering a run and has struck out 18 in those three starts. Hooker's worst start of the season came in his last going four innings allowing five

runs, four earned, on eight hits against the Burlington Bees. He rebounded well in relief against the Lansing Lugnuts on June 6th by pitching 3.2

scoreless allowing just one hit. Hooker was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft. Hooker

was drafted out of Mira Mesa High School in San Diego, California where he currently resides.

LEBRON: Ramon Lebron is a hard-throwing right-hander out of San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. He was signed by the Detroit

Tigers on September 6, 2006 when he was just 17 years-old. Lebron will be making his 11th start of the season tonight, and is 4-3 with a 5.63

ERA through his first ten starts of the season. Lebron has good strikeout numbers averaging 11 strikeouts per nine innings. It has been the

third inning that Lebron has really struggled so far this season. In the third inning Lebron has surrendered fifteen runs through nine third inning

appearances. Lebron has struggled with his control this season as well walking an average of three batters per game and he has hit four batsmen

and thrown six wild pitches already this season. He has also committed three balks this season, the Bandits have only balked four times this

season as a team. In his last time out Lebron went just three innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hit.

SWEET HOME COOKIN': River Bandits pitching has been lights out at home going 19-9 with a 3.12 ERA compared to the .500 record of 16-16 with

a 4.78 ERA on the road this season. Though the Bandits struggled in three games with South Bend at home the pitching was successful holding

an ERA of 3.86 in 28 innings of work.

RYDE'S ROLLIN': Ryde Rodriguez has caught fire as of late hitting .389 through the last ten games of the season. Rodriguez has raised his batting

average over the .250 mark, sitting at .257 now. Just 15 games ago, Ryde was hitting .205, raising his batting average .052 points over that span.

Rodriguez was riding a five game hitting streak heading into the series finale with South Bend, but was unable to keep it going as he went 0-for-4

against the Silver Hawks on Thursday night. In his last 15 games Ryde has driven in 15 runs for the River Bandits.

NICE JOB NIKO: Niko Vasquez has been swinging one of the hottest bats for Quad Cities. He is hitting .400 through the last ten games going

16-for-40. Niko is tied for the team lead in home runs with Matt Adams at seven long balls this season. He has six extra base hits through the

last ten games, including one of his seven homers and he has driven in seven runs for the Bandits. Vasquez is currently just two RBI behind Jason

Stidham for the team lead with 36.

WHO TO WATCH FOR: Headlining the River Bandits opening day roster is Shelby Miller. Miller is listed as the St. Louis Cardinals top prospect

according to

Baseball America's 2010 Prospect Handbook. Miller was drafted in the 1st round, 19th overall, in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft,

he is a lean, hard throwing right-hander that many believe has big league pitching tools already, at 19 years-old. Robert Stock was drafted in the

2nd round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Stock is the Cardinals top catching prospect, and is slated to be the River Bandits starting catcher

for the season. Stock is listed at #10 on the Cardinal top prospect list, according to

Baseball America's 2010 Prospect Handbook. Stock showed

his potential by hitting .322 in the Appalachian League last season. Right-hander Joe Kelly looks to move from a closer to starter in his first full

season in professional baseball. Kelly was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Kelly threw for the Batavia Muckdogs last

season and struck out 30 batters in 30.1 innings of work. Ryan Jackson is slated to play infield for the River Bandits in 2010. Jackson was drafted

in the 5th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, and is listed at # 25 on the Cardinals top prospect list according to

Baseball America's 2010

Prospect Handbook. Jackson spent 2009 with Batavia.
